Out-of-Hours Formulary

Out-of-Hours Formulary
The East Lancashire out-of-hours (OOHs) formulary has been developed collaboratively with Providers of OOH services and
commissioners. It is based on the national OOH formulary described in Delivering the Out of Hours Review: Securing Proper
Access to Medicines in the Out of Hours Period (Department of Health, December 2004). These medicines are carried as stock
items by the OOH services and are intended to be issued to patients at times when pharmacies are closed, and during home
visits. When ordering medicines on the FP10 prescription form, prescribers are strongly encouraged to follow the OOH formulary
wherever possible. If this is not appropriate then prescribing should be in accordance with the wider East Lancashire Joint
Formulary.
